Last Year at SECs: The Tennessee men finished sixth after the five-day event with 713 points, almost half of the 1440 point total accumulated by Florida. The men acquired eight total SEC medals, with one gold medal. That was earned on the final day of competition, when Sean Lehane claimed first place in the 200-yard backstroke. In 1 minute, 39.64 seconds, Lehane won the event in the evening session, an improvement on the preliminary session, where he broke his then-school record time in the event.
Mauricio Robles earned a pair of silver medals in consecutive days of competition, finishing second in the three-meter diving competition (418.10). That was Robles' second silver medal at SECs, finishing second in the one-meter competition as well (395.20). Luke Percy earned the other silver medal by finishing second in the 100 Free (42.22).
UT earned four bronze medals overall, two of which coming in the relay portion of the championship. The men earned their first medal in the 200 Medley Relay, in which Sam Rairden, Renato Prono, Oystein Hetland and Percy tied with Alabama for third place (1:24.84). The 800 Free Relay squad of Rairden, Gustav Aberg Ledjstrom, Tristan Slater and Lehane finished third to claim the bronze medal.
