Swimmers Set for National Competitions

Seven members of the Tennessee swimming team past and present are competing this week at the USA Swimming AT&T Winter National Championships in Seattle.
The championships run Thursday through Saturday. It is a sanctioned event for swimmers to log 2016 Olympic trial times. The meet usually takes place in a short course format, but this year, it is in long course meters in preparation for the Olympiad.
Former Vols and breaststroke standouts Molly Hannis and Brad Craig have enjoyed their fare share of international competition this year for Team USA. Hannis competed at the World University Games during the summer and then competed for the U.S. during the FINA World Cup circuit through Asia, collected multiple medals in her signature stroke.
Another recent former UT swimmer, Cherelle Thompson, will hit the pool next week for the ASATT Invitational Long Course Championships in her native country of Trinidad & Tobago in hopes of clocking an Olympic qualifying standard in the 50-meter freestyle.
In diving, sophomore Liam Stone will depart next week for the Oceania Championships in Australia. The SEC 3-meter champ from New Zealand is returning to international competition in hopes of earning an Olympic spot for his nation.
