Ruth's Chris Tarheel Invitational
Vols Move Up Two Spots
October 10, 2015 | Women's Golf
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- No. 14 Tennessee moved up two places into seventh place during the second round of the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational. No. 7 Duke continues to lead the field (+2).
"We played much better today despite worse [weather] conditions," stated Head Coach Judi Pavon. "We started in some wind and finished the last seven holes in steady rain. We got off to a much better start and the players just hung in there until the end."
Tied for eleventh place (+2), Blakesly Warren carded four birdies during day two. She shot even par during the round. Sophomore Anna Newell also recorded a round of 72 (E) and is tied for 32nd place with an overall score of 149.
"Blakesly was tough out there today, the course played much longer and she struck the ball well and made some good putts. Anna was also steady from beginning to end," added Pavon.
Shannon Brooks finished round two four-over par (T20). Lucia Polo concluded day two with a score of 75 and Emmie Pietila shot 82.
The Vols will begin round three tomorrow at 9:09 a.m. ET. Live stats will be available at golfstat.com.
