Vols Finish 10th at Valspar Invitational

Palm City, Fla. -- The Tennessee men's golf team wrapped up a grueling two days of golf with a 10th place finish at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational. The Valspar marked Tennessee's third tournament of the month The previous two March tournaments yielded championships (Davidson and Bobby Nichols).
The Vols simply ran out of gas after an impressive 36-hole Monday. Besides the weather, UT also faced difficulty in the 12 nationally ranked teams competing at the Floridian Golf Club.
Like a majority of the field, UT's performance dipped on Tuesday as the Vols shot a 295 (+11). Tennessee finished the tournament with a total of 857 (+5) including two rounds of under par.
Senior Danny Keddie finished as the top Volunteer for the first time this season, shooting a 211 (-2) that included 12 birdies and two eagles. The Englishman finished in 14th place, marking his third top-15 finish of the year.
Sophomore Oliver Goss carded a first round 69 (-2) en route to a two-day total of 214 (+1). The Australian tied for 27th place. Goss hit 15 birdies and one eagle.
Sophomore Michael Nagy and freshman Jack Smith both finished tied for 42nd place with a total of 218 (+5) while senior Brandon Rodgers tied for 47th with a total of 219 (+6).
Tennessee returns to action on Saturday, April 5 at the Insperity Augusta State Invitational in Augusta, Ga.
