The Landfall Tradition
Lady Vols Conclude Fall Season
October 26, 2014 | Women's Golf

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- The Lady Vols golf team concluded its final tournament of the fall season in 13th place at the Landfall Tradition. Tennessee finished the final round with a score of 301.
"Today was a disappointing way to end our fall season," head coach Judi Pavon said. "We made a lot of unforced errors today that cost us in a tightly bunched field like this one. We had a really good fall season, and it was too bad we ended on this note."
AJ Newell once again led the Lady Vols with a score of 74 (+2) to finish with a combined total of 215 to finish in an eighth place tie. She shot one-under par for her combined score.
"AJ had a great finish and had a really good fall season," Pavon said of the senior.
Anna Newell followed behind shooting three-over par with a final of 75. Sophomores Lucia Polo and Hannah Pietila rounded out the team scoring with a final score of 76. Anna Newell and Polo both finished in a tie for 32nd place with a total of 221. Mason Chen earned her second score of 78 to end the tournament.
Wake Forest took the team win with a combined team score of 864. Alabama came in second followed by a third place tie by Notre Dame and South Carolina. Ashley Holder of UCF took the individual win after shooting seven-under par with a score of 209.
With the conclusion of the tournament, the Lady Vols close out their fall season. Tennessee had three top 10 finishes prior to the Landfall Tournament including two second place finishes. They won't be back in action until February 22 when they kick-off the spring season in Peoria, Ariz. at the Westbrook Spring Invitational.
