USA Swimming named 67 highly-qualified coaches to its 2014-15 roster Tuesday and, once again, Tennessee swimming is well-represented. Head Coach Matt Kredich, Associate Head Coach Tyler Fenwick and Vol for Life Lars Jorgensen were named to the roster, thanks in part to their guidance of a pair of USA selections.
On a list that consists of some of the biggest coaching names of USA swimming--including the likes of Bob Bowman, Yuri Suguiyama, David Salo, Dave Durden, Teri McKeever and Eddie Reese, among others--lies a sliver of Big Orange.
Kredich, Fenwick and Jorgensen qualified for a spot on the national team roster in part because of the supported athletes who made a national team roster. Molly Hannis (Kredich's swimmer) made a pair of USA rosters, including the World University Games team, which will be headed to South Korea in 2015.
Fenwick and UT redshirt freshman David Heron has been quite successful in the distance and open water events. The duo just returned Sunday from a trip across the Pacific Ocean in Hong Kong, where Heron placed 13th out of 51 swimmers in the FINA Marathon swimming World Cup.
Jorgensen, the head coach at the University of Kentucky, is represented by Franklin, Tenn., native Christina Bechtel.
