NEW YORK -- The honors keep pouring in for Candace Parker. The Los Angeles Sparks standout, recently named MVP of the WNBA All-Star Game, was announced as the league's Western Conference Player of the Month on Thursday.
Parker's 19.8 ppg. and 9.0 rpg. averages in July led Los Angeles (12-6) to a 7-2 record for the month after a 5-4 start to the season. Her 178 total points were also a conference best, while her 12 blocks led the league. Parker scored at least 20 points in six of her team's nine games and averaged 23.2 points over two weeks (five games) to earn back-to-back Western Conference Player of the Week awards.
