Texas Relays Results | Bobcat Invitational Results
AUSTIN, Texas - Tennessee track & field junior Tyler Porter recorded a double-personal record to tie for fourth place in the men's section `B' pole vault competition on day two at the 86th edition of the legendary Clyde Little Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas.
With three Vols and two Lady Vols in action on Thursday, Porter led the way in the vaults. With a previous outdoor best of 16-feet, 7.25-inches (5.06m), the Jefferson, Ga., native cleared 17-1 (5.21m) on his first attempt and then leaped over 17-5 (5.31m) on his second attempt to finish in a tie for fourth in the `B' section.
Fellow Vol Tavis Bailey, who won the discus competition at last week's Mississippi State Conference Challenge, picked up right where he left off on Thursday. Scheduled to throw in the event at the Texas Relays on Saturday, Bailey and associate head coach John Frazier made a last-minute decision to enter the sophomore in a local competition at Texas State's Bobcat Invitational, and it paid off.
Bailey easily won the event with his second throw, which traveled 195-feet, 2-inches (59.50m), just shy of his personal record that was set in Starkville last week. He will throw in the `A' section at the Texas Relays on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. ET.
Lady Vol field athletes Katherine Dresch and Jessie Harrison were also in action in Austin on Thursday, competing in the javelin and hammer throws, respectively.
Dresch finished 12th in the javelin with a mark of 125-10 (38.36m), while Harrison placed 15th in the hammer with a toss of 160-0 (49.76m).
Action resumes at the Texas Relays on Friday morning at 10:35 a.m. ET with team relay and individual hurdle events.
