Vols Stay Hot In Wintry Weather

The Tennessee men's golf team won the C&F Bank Intercollegiate on Tuesday in a rather unusual fashion.
The Vols last played a round of golf on Sunday, as snowfall delayed the tournament for two days. Tennessee was able to get a full round of golf in Sunday morning before C&F Bank officials halted play.
On Monday, officials cancelled the entire second round with hopes to resume play the follow day. The weather Tuesday cooperated long enough for teams to finish their first round, which was initially started on Sunday.
After all teams had finished a full round, the tournament was completed with the Volunteers emerging victorious after carding a 285 (+5). Tennessee edged out Michigan and No. 16 Florida State by two strokes.
The Vols were led by Oliver Goss and Brandon Rodgers who both finished tied for fifth after carding a 69 (-1). Goss and Rodgers have been playing some exceptional golf as of late. Earlier in the month, both golfers won their first career individual championship.
Head coach Jim Kelson also saw contributions from seniors Rick Lamb and Jay Vandeventer. Lamb finished in the top-25 for the sixth time this season, carding a 73 (+3). Vandeventer finished with a 74 (+4), while newcomer Thomas Dunne rounded out the Vols' lineup carding a 75 (+5).
The win marks the Volunteers' second team victory of the season since winning the SeaBest Invitational back in February.
Looking ahead, the Tennessee men's golf team returns to action April 6, when they travel to Augusta, Ga., for the Insperity Augusta State Invitational.
