UT Hires Huebner As CFO, Senior Associate AD

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. --The University of Tennessee department of athletics announced today that Brett Huebner has been named chief financial officer and senior associate athletics director. The announcement was made by Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics Dave Hart.
Huebner, 36, will be responsible for all financial management and business operations for UT Athletics. He joins Tennessee from the University of South Florida, where he has served as the chief financial officer since 2007. Huebner was promoted to senior associate athletics director in 2013 and originally joined USF as the assistant athletics director for business operations and human resources in 2005.
“We are very pleased to have Brett joining our leadership team as our CFO,” said Hart. “He brings a very high level of expertise and experience to a critical position within our university structure.”
In his current role, Huebner is responsible for leadership and administrative oversight of all aspects of financial and business management, including budgeting, financial reporting, long-term and capital planning, forecasting, debt management, contract administration, and internal controls. He also oversees human resources, ticketing operations, information technology, travel operations, and equipment services for USF athletics.
A certified public accountant, Huebner also is the CFO for USF Sun Dome, Inc., a non-profit organization that manages the University’s arena, golf course, and aircraft.
Before joining South Florida, Huebner worked at the University of Miami (FL) athletics department as its assistant director of business operations and also as an audit associate in the Milwaukee office of Deloitte and Touche, LLP.
Huebner was a baseball student-athlete at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) where he earned a bachelor of business administration degree in accounting. He also has a master of business administration degree in sport management from Florida Atlantic University.
A native of Waukesha, WI, Huebner and his wife, Jessica, have a 16-month old son, Hudson.
