Popson Opens Play at USGA Amateur

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Senior golfer Erica Popson shot an even par 72 through the first round of stroke play at the 112th U.S. Women's Amateur Championship in Cleveland, Ohio.
The Davenport, Fla. native recorded four birdies and 10 pars, ending the day tied for 18th.
Popson, a 2012 Curtis Cup team member, is among 156 golfers at the event.
Tuesday will be the final day of stroke play and the top 64 players then proceed to the first round of match play on Aug. 8. The 36-hole championship final match play takes place on Aug. 12. Match play from Aug. 8-12 will be televised on the Golf Channel.
