"The Fall Preview is a great event to be invited to because it gives us a chance to compete on the course that will host the NCAA finals in May," head coach Judi Pavon said. "It's always a super strong field made up of the top 10 teams from the previous season, along with the top finishers at the NCAA."
UT will be among the nation's best squads as 14 of the 18 teams competed are ranked in the top 25 including No. 1 Duke, No. 4 USC, No. 6 Alabama, No. 7 Vanderbilt, No. 8 Auburn and No. 9 Purdue.
The Lady Vols are coming off a ninth-place showing at last month's Cougar Classic in Charleston, S.C., where senior Erica Popson earned third-place honors.
"We will need to focus on clubbing correctly into the greens and putting well," Pavon said. "A top-5 finish this week would be solid, but we are really going to focus on being competitive and giving ourselves a chance to win."
Along with Popson, Tennessee's line-up will feature senior Sara Monberg, junior Chessey Thomas, sophomore AJ Newell and freshman Ashlee Pickerell.
The first round begins at 8 a.m. Friday. The Big Orange is paired with Duke and Texas A&M and will tee off from the 10th hole. Live scoring from the event will be available at golfstat.com
