Trudeau, McGroarty Grab Top Five Finishes at UGA Diving Invite

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - University of Tennessee Lady Vol divers Gabrielle Trudeau and Jodie McGroarty each finished in the top five on the 1-meter boards Tuesday at the Georgia Diving Invitational at Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga.
In the opening day of the three-day invite, Trudeau finished runner-up in the 1-meter competition, tallying a score of 287.40 in the finals. The senior nearly missed winning the event, as Anna Aguero of Auburn grabbed the top spot in the event after a mark of 287.65. In addition, she also claimed second in the evening shootout.
A redshirt junior, McGroarty accumulated a combined third-place score of 548.68, She had a score of 266.20 in the final in addition to the second-best tally of 282.65 in the prelims, only behind Aguero. Trudeau was third in the prelims with a six-round score of 277.60.
It was the first competition for both Trudeau and McGroarty since the Tennessee Invitational, which took place over Nov. 16-18.
The preliminary round featured 30 divers, with the top 16 earning a spot in the finals. The score needed to qualify for the finals was 218.00.
The duo is slated to compete in the 3-meter competition tomorrow along with redshirt sophomore Tori Lamp. The prelims will begin at 11 a.m. ET. The platform competition is scheduled for Thursday.
