Helms Named SEC Diver of the Week

Senior diver Ryan Helms picked up SEC Diver of the Week honors for the first time this season, the conference office released Tuesday.
Helms enjoyed another strong performance on the springboards Saturday at Georgia in the final road dual match of his career.
He won the 1-meter competition for the fourth time in six meets this season, winning with a six-dive score of 374.70. He also finished second on the 3-meter springboard to freshman Mauricio Robles with a score of 394.20.
Helms has been consistent in the 3-meter this season, posting four scores above 390 and two since January.
This weekly SEC honor was hardly the first for Helms. In the fall of 2009, Helms rattled off three consecutive SEC Diver of the Week honors to start the year. That feat earned him an appearance in Sports Illustrated's Faces in the Crowd weekly feature.
Helms was named the SEC Freshman Diver of the Year in 2009.
