KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Tennessee Vol swimmer Ryan Harrison is set to compete and represent his home country of Ireland at the 2011 World University Games taking place over Aug. 14-19 in Shenzhen, China.
Harrison will be in the water beginning Tuesday with the 100 free. He will then compete in the 400 free Wednesday and the 200 free Thursday.
Harrison, who hails from Londonderry, Northern Ireland, captured the 200 free title at the 2011 Southeastern Conference Championships and won the consolation final in the 500 free. His times in both events were new UT records.
In July CollegeSwimmingAwards.com recognized Harrison as one of eight male swimmers to be selected as a "Break-Out Swimmer" when the results of the 2010-11 College Swimming and Diving Honors were released.
