KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Five members of the Tennessee Lady Vol swimming and diving team secured Olympic Trial standards over the weekend at the 2011 Long Course Southeastern Championships at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center.
Rising junior Kelsey Floyd registered five Olympic Trial cuts at the meet in the 100 fly, 200 fly, 200 free, 400 free and 200 IM. The Lexington, Ky., native won the 200 fly and swam the fastest prelim times in the 200 and 400 free events.
Lindsay Gendron, a rising sophomore, qualified for the Olympic Trials in 100, 400 and 800 free events. She was victorious in all three events and also won the 200 free.
Jenny Connolly, Sloane Pitman and Molly Hannis also recorded qualifying times. A rising senior, Connolly won the 100 back and will compete in the same event at the 2011 World University Games next month.
Pitman, who redshirted during her sophomore campaign, grabbed the top spot in the 200 IM with a trial cut. Arriving at Rocky Top in January, Hannis picked up a qualifying standard in the 200 breast after winning the event prelims.
Also competing at the meet for Tennessee Aquatics were Abbie Alton, Kirstyn Colonias, Kennedy Higdon, Brooke Watson and Atlantis Wilkins.
The 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials will take place next summer in Omaha, Neb.
