Tennessee's three freshman golfers -- Danny Keddie, Brandon Rodgers and Marshall Talkington -- all were named to the 2011 First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll announced by the conference office.
The men's golf squad turned in the spring semester's top grade-point average on campus among male varsity teams and placed two other individuals on the SEC's Spring Academic Honor Roll. Justin Walker and Darren Renwick, both of whom just completed their senior seasons, were named to the Academic All-SEC squad last month.
Keddie enrolled at UT in January and wound up third on the team in scoring average this season at 74.25, with four top-10 finishes. Rodgers competed in four tournaments, finishing with a 79.00 scoring average, while Talkington played in three events and carded a freshman mark of 78.44.
The men's team grade-point average of 3.41 led all nine UT varsity squads for the spring semester.
The Vols earned their 12th consecutive NCAA regional tournament berth, extending the school record, and then qualified for the NCAA championship finals for the third straight year to match the best run in program history. UT finished 24th at the NCAA finals in Stillwater, Okla.
