BARCELONA, Spain - Former Lady Vol swimmer Martina Moravcikova recently made history as she set a new Czech Republic long course record in the 100 breast after touching in at 1:09.23 to place third at the 2011 Mare Nostrum swimming series.
A native of Prague, Czech Republic, Moravcikova broke the record on the second day of competition. She is also slated to compete in the event later this summer in Paris.
"It was exciting to swim the new national record because I simply laid it on the line," Moravcikova said. "I had no expectations and no fear because I knew that the work I have put in was going to pay off."
Moravcikova, who just exhausted her eligibility at the NCAA Championships in March, became an All-American in four events, including earning First-Team honors as a member of the fourth-place 400y medley relay team.
