GENEVA, Switzerland. - Next season the Tennessee Lady Vol swimming and diving team will have a national record holder on the squad, as Marina Ribi set a new Switzerland standard in the 400 IM at the Swiss Long Course Championships that end today.
Topping her own Swiss record in the event at the championships, Ribi touched in at 4:48.38, shattering her previous clocking of 4:50.53 set in 2009. She edged second place by over two seconds, as Martina van Berkel finished in 4:51.00.
Ribi arrived at Rocky Top this year but did not compete for the Orange and White in order to fulfill her year in residence.
The Swiss native was also a member of the 2010 recruiting class that CollegeSwimming.com ranked as the fifth best in the country.
