DES MOINES, Iowa -- Members of the Tennessee Lady Vol throws corps were in action Friday at the 112th-annual Drake Relays, and one of them managed a top-three finish at Drake Stadium.
Junior Annie Alexander had the highest result for the Big Orange, placing third in the shot put. The UT standout stretched the tape measure to 54 feet, 3 3/4 inches with her fourth throw of the competition.
Alexander wasn't as fortunate in the discus throw, failing to register a fair mark in three tries.
In the javelin throw, senior Holly Kane produced a 13th-place showing. Her effort of 135-1, which came on her third attempt, was her mark of record. Freshman teammate Katherine Dresch wound up 20th at 118-8.
On Saturday in Des Moines, Tennessee will have junior Jessie Harrison in action in the women's hammer throw and Matt Darr taking part in the men's discus.
