KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - For the second time this season, the Southeastern Conference announced Monday that Tennessee Lady Vol swimmer Molly Hannis has been selected as the league's Freshman of the Week.
Aiding the Big Orange to a runner-up finish at the Tennessee Invitational last week, Hannis was UT's top-finisher in the 100y and 200y breast events, as she made the "A' finals in both. Her 200y breast time was an NCAA B-cut, as she finished in fifth after touching in at 2:15.98.
She also swam the breast leg of the runner-up 400y medley relay team that recorded a B-cut time of 3:38.74, which is the second-fastest clocking in the nation. She also competed in the 200y medley relay at the meet, as the quartet notched third after swimming a clocking of 1:40.96, which is also a B-cut mark.
Hannis also won the accolade on Oct. 25, as she registered first-place times in the 100y breaststroke and 200y breaststroke as Tennessee defeated Indiana and Kentucky in a double dual meet.
The team will be off until the USA Swimming Winter Nationals take place in Atlanta over Dec. 1-3.
