KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Junior Gabrielle Trudeau was the top finisher for the Tennessee women's divers for the second straight day at the Tennessee Diving Invitational on Tuesday afternoon at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatics Center.
Trudeau paced the Lady Vols by capturing eighth in the finals of the 1-meter board with a score of 262.10 on day two of the meet. The Montreal, Canada, native made the 12-member finals by also nabbing eighth in the preliminary round with a score of 265.60.
"Gaby was disappointed with her performance yesterday and wasn't quite where she needed to be mentally, but she came in today and we made some mental adjustments," UT diving coach Dave Parrington said. "We communicated a lot better during the event, which was something we didn't do at all yesterday. In these big meets that can happen because it's a little bit chaotic and that is something we need to stay on top of."
Sophomore Skye Sanders was the only other competitor for Tennessee to dive in the 1-meter competition, scoring a 218.60 to finish 21st.
Auburn's Anna Aguero won the 1-meter event with a first-place score of 290.10 in the finals.
Earning honorable mention All-American accolades on the platform in 2009, Trudeau will look to challenge for the top spot on the tower, along with Sanders and senior Jill Pierce, as the final day of UT Diving Invitational is slated to begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
