Former Swimmer Alesi Wins Gold Medals

Former Tennessee swimmer and Venezuelan Octavio Alesi won two gold medals, one silver medal and broke two meet records recently at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.
An All-America and four-year letterman at Tennessee from 2005-2008, Alesi won a gold medal as an individual in the 50-meter butterfly with a meet record time of 23.70 seconds.
Representing his native Venezuela, Alesi won a second gold medal with his nation's 400-meter medley relay. The relay team also broke a meet record with a time of three minutes 44.22 seconds.
Alesi earned a silver medal in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 52.89 seconds.
In part because of his contributions, Venezuela won the championship in the swimming portion of the Central American and Caribbean Games.
A 13-time All-America for the Big Orange, Alesi came to The Hill from Barinas, Venezuela.
