Lady Vol Throwers In Action Friday At UCSD Triton Invitational

LAJOLLA, Calif. -- While many of their teammates were in Philadelphia, competing in the Penn Relays, four members of the Lady Vol track & field team were in action in a pair of throws events Friday at the UCSD Triton Invitational.
In the invitational hammer throw, sophomore Laquoya Kelly was the best of three UT women, placing 12th in 158-5/48.30m. Freshman Jessie Harrison was 14th in 156-7/47.73m while sophomore Taylor Rotella ended up 32nd in 129-11/39.60m.
In the discus throw, rookie Aslynn Halvorson was 14th at 149-0/45.43m, while Harrison placed 20th in a season-best 134-4/40.91m.
On Saturday, on the University of California - San Diego's seaside campus, the Tennessee women will compete in the javelin throw and shot put, while the Big Orange men swing into action in the javelin, hammer and discus throws.
