Tennessee diver Michael Wright made history after claiming the 2010 one-meter springboard national title at the USA Diving Winter Nationals.
The Forest Park, Ill., native became the first-ever black national champion.
Black Sports The Magazine honored that achievement by featuring Wright on the cover of the April 2010 edition of the online-based publication.
Wright accomplished this feat at Ohio State's McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion Feb. 8 behind a school-record 396.00 point mark.
After competing for the Volunteers as a junior in 2008-09, Wright redshirted the 2009-10 season while recovering from a back injury. The Winter Nationals is sanctioned by USA Diving and not the NCAA.
