`Train Like a Vol' Day Camp
November 24, 2010 | Men's Golf
Dec. 1, 2010
The "Train Like a Vol" Day Camp takes place Dec. 4 and 11 at the Mack & Jonnie Day Golf Practice Facility.
Hosted by UT's Casey VanDamme, Director of Instruction/Player Development under Vols head coach Jim Kelson, the event is designed to give aspiring golfers help with their technique on full swing as well as short game. Coaches and players are taught how to have more productive practices and workouts while gaining the "UT Experience."
Taking place at the brand new home of Tennessee Golf, the Mack & Jonnie Day Golf Practice Facility is located off Alcoa Highway across from the UT Medical Center. The facility sits alongside the banks of the Tennessee River and includes three practice holes, a driving range and pitching and putting areas.
Not only do camp participants have complete access to the impressive new facility, they also go through a full training session with VanDamme, who just finished his first season at UT after learning the trade under renowned golf instructor Jim McLean. VanDamme spent seven years at the Jim McLean Golf School in both Palm Springs, Calif., and Traverse City, Mich., becoming the youngest Master Instructor in school history.
VanDamme lets campers know:
What you are doing.
What you should do.
How to make the change!
Participants not only have access and interaction with the Vols coaching staff, they also have full use of the technology UT's golf team uses on a daily basis. VanDamme teaches his students the plan for taking their games to the next level.
Both sessions, limited to four students for maximum individual time, take place from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Cost is $250 per session.
