With the 2010-11 season starting in just one week, the Tennessee swimming and diving team kicks off the year with the annual Orange and White Meet on Thursday.
The White team will attempt to win the intrasquad meet for the fourth consecutive year. The meet begins at 4 p.m. at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center.
The Vols, coming off a 4-3 (3-2 SEC) season, have their sights set on improving their standing within the formidable Southeastern Conference and at the NCAA level, as well. Tennessee finished fourth in the conference last year and 17th at the NCAA championships.
After the intrasquad meet, Tennessee begins its regular season with a home contest against Louisville on Oct. 21. Then the Big Orange hit the road for three consecutive dual-meets with Cumberlands, Kentucky and Ohio State before returning to Knoxville for the Tennessee Invitational on Nov. 18-20.
The Vols ring in 2011 with the UT Diving Invitational Jan. 3-5. Tennessee then hosts Virginia, Georgia and Indiana before wrapping up their dual-meet schedule at SEC-East foe Florida on Jan. 29.
The SEC championships are hosted by Florida and will feature the diving competition on Feb. 11-13 and the swimming competition on Feb. 16-19.
The NCAA Zone Diving Championships are hosted by Georgia on March 10-12.
Tennessee concludes its season at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, hosted by Minnesota, on March 25-27.
