Vols Still Second at Carpet Capital Collegiate

Tennessee stayed in the hunt Saturday at the Carpet Capital Collegiate, firing a 1-under-par 287 that leaves the Vols just two shots behind leaders Chattanooga heading into Sunday's final round in Rocky Face, Ga.
Chattanooga's 4-under-par 284 on Saturday lifted the Mocs to a combined 575 team score and first place. UT stands at 577 (1 over par) and six shots clear of third-place teams South?Carolina (583) and Alabama (583). Wake Forest and Georgia Tech share fifth place at 585, with Auburn, Texas Tech and Georgia next in line at 586.
Individually for Tennessee, sophomore Darren Renwick registered his second straight red-figure score (70) to maintain sixth place at 3-under-par 141. Robin Wingardh shot 71 to improve to eighth place at 1-under 143, and David Holmes is tied for 11th at even-par 144 after a 73 on Saturday. Sophomore Justin Walker also shot 73 and stands in a tie for 33rd at 5-over 149. Freshman Jay Vandeventer finished with an 80.
