UT's Alexander in Action at World Championships

BERLIN, Germany -- University of Tennessee thrower Annie Alexander was in action Sunday morning at the IAAF World Track & Field Championships, competing in the qualifying round of the shot put at Olympic Stadium.
The Lady Vol rising junior was unable to advance to the final, however, carding a best measurement of 52 feet, 6 1/2 inches on her first attempt against an Olympic-caliber field of international athletes. She also had a toss of 51-11 on try number two and fouled on her final throw of the prelims. She wound up in 27th place overall against a host of professional competitors in her first appearance at the World Championships.
