Tennessee's sensational sophomore diver Ryan Helms qualified for the three-meter finals at the USA Diving AT&T National Diving Championships, Wednesday. Helms, along with teammates Brent Sterling and Mike Wright, is competing in the championships in Tallahassee, Fla. this week.
With a score of 368.80, Helms placed sixth in the semifinals of the event and will compete Saturday for the three-meter championship. Former Vol diver Jevon Tarintino placed fourth (391.55) and will also compete for the title.
Helms is no stranger to these championships. In 2008, he took the crown in the one-meter event (398.70) and will begin defending his title Thursday as the preliminary rounds of the one-meter begin.
