Ginny Brown Moves On At TRANS Amateur Championship

LOUDON, Tenn. - Rising senior Ginny Brown advanced to the round of 32 on Wednesday during the first day of match play at the TRANS Amateur Championship.
Brown, the 21st-seed, defeated 44th-seeded Shu-Yin Liu, 3 and 2, in the round of 64 at the Tennessee National Golf Course. She will play 12th-seed Tiffany Phelps in the second round at 9:10 a.m. on Thursday. The winner of that match will move on to the round of 16 at 1 p.m. that afternoon.
The quarterfinals and semifinals will be played on Friday with the finals of the Trans Amateur Championship decided on Saturday.
Brown, a native of Austin, Texas, tied for 19th during the qualifying portion of the tournament with a 78-73=151 (+7) on the par-72 Greg Norman-designed course.
This is the 79th TRANS Amateur Championship. More than half of the fifty U.S. states are represented as well as international players from Australia, Canada, Philippines and Singapore.
