As teams all across the nation prepare for the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, several schools traveled to Knoxville over the weekend for a Last Chance qualifying meet.
The meet gave athletes one more opportunity to improve season-bests and reach NCAA A or B-cuts in hopes of moving up the national lists. The NCAA Championships will be in College Station, Texas Mar. 26-28. The NCAA usually takes around 30-35 participants for each individual event and between 20-24 entries for each relay. The official list of participants for the national meet will be released Wednesday March 4.
Senior All-America Nolan Morrell made an NCAA B-cut in the 100 butterfly with a time of 47.21. His mark gives UT a total of 40 different individual NCAA qualifying times. The Vols also have nine relay teams that qualify for the championships.
