Varsity Rowing Travels to Head of the Charles Regatta

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee women's rowing team travels to its biggest event of the fall this weekend as it heads to Boston, Mass., to race in the 45th annual Head of the Charles Regatta. This is the Lady Vols' seventh-straight appearance at the event.
In 2008, UT entered two shells in the event for the first time in program history, both racing in the Championship 8+. The "A" shell produced a 14th-place finish out of 38 total boats. This year, the Orange and White will have one boat competing in the highly-competitive women's C8+.
As the world's largest two-day rowing event, the Head of the Charles features over 7,500 athletes from around the globe. The regatta is comprised of 54 events and consistently draws crowds of up to 300,000 spectators.
Tennessee's only event at the 2009 Head of the Charles Regatta, the women's championship 8+, Is set to begin at 4:35 p.m. EST on Sunday.
