Tarmoh moves to 100M final at World Juniors

BYDGOSZCZ, Poland -- University of Tennessee freshman Jeneba Tarmoh looked sharp Tuesday as she advanced through two rounds of the 100-meter dash at the 21st-annual IAAF World Junior Championships at Bydgoszcz City Stadium.
Tarmoh, from San Jose, Calif., cruised into Wednesday???s final by posting the fastest readout in the semifinals. Her clocking of 11.38 seconds easily made her the winner in heat three. Heat two winner Ashlee Nelson of Great Britain had the second best time of the qualifiers, taking heat two in 11.43.
In the first round, Tarmoh crossed the finish line first in heat two at 11.56. Nelson???s 11.55, which won heat one, was the only effort better than the UT standout.
Tarmoh will be joined in the final by American teammate Shayla Mahan, who finished second in heat one at 11.66 for the eighth qualifying spot.
