Shepley Moves Closer to LPGA

MASON, Ohio. ??? At the Duramed Championship in Mason, Ohio this weekend, former Lady Vol Jessica Shepley added to her many accomplishments by placing second at the tournament held at The Golf Center at Kings Island. A 2005 graduate from the University of Tennessee, Shepley has three top-10 finishes on the Duramed FUTURES Tour this year, including second-place outcomes at the Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City Championship (May 16-18) and the Duramed Championship (June 20-22). Her earnings this past weekend moved her up to fifth on the money list with $27,289.
Shepley, from Oakville, Ontario, carded an eight-under-par 205 (67-70-68) at the 6,183-yard, par-71 course located just outside of Cincinnati. She made a 21-foot putt on the last hole to tie Stephanie Otteson (Wilson, N.C.) and Mindy Kim (Diamond Bar, Calif.) for first place. Otteson then sank a 30-foot putt to birdie the hole and take the win by a stroke (204). Two-time tournament winner Kim came in third (206).
Shepley and former Lady Vol Marci Turner are scheduled to compete in the next FUTURES Tour event, the Horseshoe Casino Classic, June 27-29, in Hammond, Ind. Results from the Duramed FUTURES Tour can be found on www.duramedfuturestour.com.
