Ford, Pettitt named Ping All-Region

Tennessee seniors Charlie Ford and Philip Pettitt were named to PING All-Region teams announced Wednesday by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Ford finished the 2007-08 season first on the team with a 72.94 scoring average and three top-10 finishes. He tied for first place at the Turtle Bay Intercollegiate in November, earning medalist honors for his first time as a Volunteer. Ford ended his UT career with seven top-10 finishes and 12 top-20 finishes.
??Pettitt was second on the team with a 72.97 scoring average and first on the team with 14 rounds of par or better. His best finish of the year was a tie for 12th place at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate. The Murfreesboro native earned six top-20 finishes this season.
PING All-Region teams consist of the top 15 individuals in their region in the Individual Ranking System.?? Additionally, any player ranked in the top 75 according to Golfstat or the Sagarin rankings not included in their region???s top 15 are added to their All-Region team.?? Members of the PING All-Region teams are eligible for PING All-America honors.
MCGOWAN FINISHES SIXTH AT ITALIAN OPEN
Former Tennessee golfer Ross McGowan finished sixth at the PGA European Tour???s Italian Open, played May 8-10 at the Castello di Tolcinasco Golf and Country Club in Milan, Italy.
McGowan finished the tournament at 20 under par with a scorecard of 64-71-64-69--268, five strokes behind tournament winner Hennie Otto at 25 under. The sixth place finish is his best this season.??
