Track Vols 12th in Latest Rankings

The Tennessee men???s track and field team is 12th with 147.43 points in this week???s US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings released Wednesday.
LSU occupies the top spot with 278.93 points. Texas A&M is second with 273.05 points, with Florida State???s 266.48 points ranking third. Florida and Texas round out the top five with 245.31 and 184.78 points, respectively.
Auburn is the next SEC team, ranking sixth with 182.38 points. The Tigers are followed by Arkansas in eighth with 174.68 points, Kentucky in 15th with 118.22 and Georgia in 23rd with 100.25. The SEC???s seven ranked schools are more than any of the other eight conferences with teams ranked this week.
The rankings use an updated scoring system based on athletes??? season-best marks to determine a team???s overall chances of making an impact at the national championship meet. The scoring system for the teams, compiled by Tom Lewis of Missouri, is the sum of its individuals??? place on the descending order list and a weighed value of those performances based on the field. The scoring method is based on the latest NCAA performance list.
Tennessee???s team score consists of two relays and 19 individual performances. Fourteen-time All-America Rubin Williams, the indoor 200 national champion, is ranked sixth in the event with his 20.60 clocking and 11th in the 100 with his time of 10.30. Three-time All-America Jangy Addy is eighth in the decathlon after recording an NCAA?automatic-qualifying score of 7,595, and freshman Michael Ayers is 19th following his NCAA provisional-qualifying score of 7,227. Tennessee has three athletes ranked in the 110 hurdles, with freshman Charlton Rolle???s 13.68 and eighth-place ranking leading the group that also includes Addy and sophomore De???Lon Isom tied for 13th with times of 13.73.
All-America Matthew Maloney is 11th in the javelin with his season-best throw of 228-2. Freshman Joseph Berry is 16th in the pole vault with his Vanderbilt Track and Vanderbilt Invitational record-breaking clearance of 17-1. All-America Yarrick Kincaid is 21st in the 800 with his time of 1:49.53 and is followed in the event by fellow senior Andrew Dawson, who is ranked 23rd. Junior Akeem Hardnett is 23rd in the triple jump with his leap of 51-1 1/2. Junior Nick Panezich???s season-best discus throw of 184-3 ranks 23rd as well and his shot put mark of 56-8 ranks 54th.
Four-time All-America Evander Wells is 24th in the 200 in 20.93 and 38th in the 100 with a time of 10.45. Sophomore Brad Holtz???s 16-10 3/4 clearance ranks 30th in the pole vault. Three-time All-America Michael Hogue is 37th in the pole vault with his 16-6 3/4 clearance. Junior Richard Wooten is 55th in the hammer with his throw of 198-2.
Tennessee???s All-America 4x100 relay team of Matthieu Pritchett, Wells, Kyle Stevenson and Williams is fourth with a time of 39.21, and the 4x400 relay team of Samdi Fraser, Stevenson, Williams and Wells ranks 19th with a time of 3:08.46.

SEC TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS TICKETS NOW AVAILABLE??
Auburn, AL - Tickets are on-sale now for the 2008 SEC Men's and Women's Track and Field Championships hosted by Auburn University. The championships will take place at the Hutsell-Rosen Track, Thursday, May 15 through Sunday, May 18.
Championship Passes are $20 for adults and $10 for student/seniors and are available on-line at http://www.autigertickets.com (click "Buy Tickets") and are good for all four days of the championships.
Single Day Passes are $10 for adults and $5 for students/seniors and will be available for purchase each day at the track.
Free public parking for the championships will be available at the corner of Donahue Drive and Lem Morrison Drive on the Auburn campus. Additional free public parking will be available at the intramural fields on Biggio Drive.
