Three on SEC Indoor All-Freshman Team

????????????????????????BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Southeastern Conference announced its first-ever SEC Indoor Track & Field All-Freshman Teams Wednesday, honoring the league???s top rookie finishers in each individual event from the 2008 SEC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
?????????????????????? On the women???s side, Tennessee and LSU led the way with three athletes named, followed by Arkansas and Florida with two. Alabama, Auburn and Kentucky each had one named to the list. For the men, Kentucky and South Carolina had four apiece selected, followed by Tennessee with three and Alabama, Arkansas and LSU each with one.
?????????????????????? Dual-event top finishers include Tennessee???s Jeneba Tarmoh (60m and 200m dash), LSU???s Melissa Ogbourne (long jump, triple jump), and Kentucky???s Derrick Locke (60m dash and long jump). Tarmoh, from San Jose, Calif., finished fourth in the 200m at 23.39 seconds and eighth in the 60m at 7.42. She had earlier won SEC Indoor Female Freshman Runner of the Year accolades.
?????????????????????? The only freshman to win an event at the SEC Indoor meet was the Lady Vols??? Annie Alexander, who also was previously named SEC Indoor Female Freshman Field Athlete of the Year. Alexander, who hails from Port-of-Spain, Trinidad & Tobago, won the shot put with a school-record heave of 57 feet, two inches.
?????????????????????? Tennessee???s other SEC All-Freshman honoree was Brittany Sheffey of Bellport, N.Y.?? The first-year performer raced to a career-best time of 4:47.26 to place fourth in the mile run and collect league kudos.?? Sheffey also ran the opening leg on UT???s SEC champion distance medley relay team.
