Williams Places 3rd at Tyson Invite

Tennessee sprinter Rubin Williams finished third in the invitational section of the 200-meter dash at the Tyson Invitational on Friday night.
Williams, the reigning SEC co-Runner of the Week and Trackshark.com National Male Performer of the Week, was the only collegiate runner included in the invitational section of the 200 that featured three professional runners. The 12-time All-America and four-time SEC champion stopped the clock in an NCAA provisional-qualifying time of 20.84 seconds.
Williams ran the 200 in 20.66 last weekend at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational in New York City to break Xavier Carter???s meet record in the event. Williams??? time from New York currently ranks second in the world behind Wallace Spearmon, the American record holder in the indoor 200, who won the event at the Tyson Invitational with a time of 20.19.
Williams, who has the fastest collegiate time in the 200 this season, and the rest of the top-ranked Volunteers return to the track next weekend in Blacksburg, Va., for the Virginia Tech Challenge.
