Golfers Hit Windy City For Illini Invite

The Tennessee men???s golf team travels this weekend to compete in the 2007 Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational. Hosted by the University of Illinois the tournament begins Sunday at Olympia Fields Country Club in Chicago, Ill.
Olympia Fields, a par-70, 7,200-yard course, has over 90 years of history and has been the site of 16 major championships through the years, including the 2003 U. S. Open.
The 54-hole tournament will start with two rounds on Sunday beginning at 8:45 a.m. Eastern time followed with the final round on Monday.
The field for this event includes No. 17 Arizona State, No. 13 Duke University, No. 8 Florida State, Illinois, Indiana, Northwestern, No. 7 Oklahoma State, Purdue, No. 1 and defending national champions Stanford, No. 23 Texas and Central Florida.
Charlie Ford will man the No. 1 position for the Volunteers. Ford carded a 4-under-par 68 to finish the Carpet Capital Collegiate 2-over-par and tied for 18th place. He was the top finisher for the Vols who finished seventh as a team.
Philip Pettitt starts at the No. 2 position. The Murfreesboro native finished tied for 23rd with a scorecard of 71-77-72--220.
Robin Wingardh takes the No. 3 position. The UT freshman will make his second career start after a 23rd place finish in his first collegiate tournament.
Chris Paisley occupies the No. 4 position. Paisley fired a tournament scorecard of 77-73-75--225 to finish tied for 48th at Carpet Capital Collegiate, Oct. 14-16.
Cameron Lawrence rounds out Tennessee???s lineup in the No. 5 position. The redshirt freshman has a season scoring average of 81.
