The Tennessee men's golf team's toughest competition on the first day of the 2007-08 season was supposed to be second-ranked Georgia or No. 3 Florida.
Instead, it was Mother Nature.
Heavy rains turned the links at The Farm in Dalton, Ga., from one of the nation's premier courses into an unplayable mess on Friday, causing play to be suspended before the completion of the first round of the 19th annual Carpet Capital Collegiate.
When play was called, the Vols were at 4 over par through eight holes, led by Charlie Ford at 1-under and Philip Pettiitt at even.
The opening round will be completed starting at 8 a.m. Eastern Time on Saturday. Second-round play will begin immediately following the completion of the first round.
Team and individual scores will not be posted until the completion of the first round.
