Tennessee men's head coach Bill Webb was named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South District co-Coach of the Year Monday.
Webb led Tennessee to the 2007 SEC outdoor team championship, the Vols third outdoor conference title in the last seven years. Tennessee enters the NCAA Outdoor Championships with 13 entries, which is third-most in the country behind only Nebraska's 15 and Oklahoma's 14. Webb is in his 12th season as head coach at Tennessee and has won three national championships and four SEC team titles in his time on The Hill.
A native of Greenbelt, Md., Webb has been named SEC Coach of the Year three times and also won District Coach of the Year in 1996. He was named NCAA National Coach of the Year in 2001 and 2002 and served as the U.S. head coach for the USA vs. Germany Decathlon competition in 2001.
Florida State's Bob Braman shares the South District co-Coach of the Year honor with Webb after leading the Seminoles to the ACC and East Region championships. Florida State enters this week's NCAA Outdoor Championships ranked No. 1 in the nation.
