BOYDS, Md. - Junior Lauren LeRoy placed 17th (231.10) from the three-meter springboard Friday to conclude her competition at the Speedo USA Spring Diving Nationals. LeRoy did well in her first senior national championship, as she qualified for the semifinals from both the one- and three-meter boards this week. The All-Southeastern Conference selection finished 19th in the semifinals of the one meter on Wednesday and 17th from three meters on Friday.
"Her diving was much more positive in nature [than Wednesday]," Lady Vol Head Diving Coach Dave Parrington said. "She made a few errors, but it's been a long season and maybe a little fatigue set in. I'm really happy with her attitude and the way she competed. She was 17th, but it was a positive result. She learned a lot and will be able to take back some of the things she learned from this experience and really build on it for her next chance at this level."
LeRoy was the only representative from Tennessee at the meet which was held at the Germantown Indoor Swim Center in Boyds, Md. She was invited to compete based on her top performances during the Lady Vols' 2006-07 season. The team which will represent the U.S. at the 2007 World University Games in Thailand will be chosen based on the results from the week's events. The National Team which will compete in Grand Prix events to be held in Spain, Italy and the U.S., will also be selected following the meet.
