VOLS FINISH THIRD AT USC COLLEGIATE INVITATIONAL

The Tennessee men's golf team shot a final round 8-over-par 294 and finished third as the USC Collegiate Invitational concluded Tuesday at North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, Calif. The Vols finished 14 over par and 20 strokes out of first.
Junior Philip Pettitt was the top finisher for the Volunteers. Pettitt carded a final round 3-over-par 74 to finish the tournament 2 under par and tied for fourth place. This marks Pettitt's fourth top-10 finish this season and best since he finished second at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at The Ridges, Oct. 14-15.
Fellow juniors Charlie Ford and Jonathan Mount finished the tournament tied for 28th. Ford carded a 4-over-par 75 to finish with a tournament scorecard of 73-71-75. Mount had the best final round for the Vols, shooting a 1-over-par 72 to finish with a 54-hole score of 219.
Switzerland native Tino Weiss carded a 3-over-par 74 in the final rounding, ending the tournament 10 over par and in 42nd place.
Chris Paisley rounded out the lineup for Tennessee. Paisley repeated his first round score of 3-over-par 74 to finish tied for 47th.
Southern California's Rory Hie fired an even-par 71 to take the individual crown with a three-round total of 208. Loyola Marymount's Brian Locke and Southern California's Jamie Lovemark finished tied for second, two strokes back of first. Three individuals tied for fourth.
Stanford shot a 5-under-par 279 in the final round to overcome Southern California and win the team title by two strokes. Stanford finished with a team score of 848. Southern California (853) was second with Tennessee (868), UCLA (870) and Brigham Young (873) rounding out the top five.
The Vols will travel next to Statesboro, Ga., for the Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational at Forest Heights Country Club, March 17-18.
