The Tennessee men's golf team looks for its fifth top-10 finish of the spring season as the Administaff Augusta State Invitational beings today in Augusta, Ga.
Hosted by the Augusta State University, the 54-hole tournament takes place at Champions Retreat Golf Club, a par-72, 7,301-yard course. The tournament will run through Sunday.
The field for the event boasts 10 of the nation's top 31 teams according to Golfweek. The field includes Auburn, Augusta State, Clemson, Coastal Carolina, ETSU, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Houston, Minnesota, North Carolina, North Carolina State, North Florida, Notre Dame, South Carolina, USC-Aiken, Virginia, Virginia Tech.
Tennessee's lineup features Philip Pettitt, Charlie Ford, Chris Paisley, Tino Weiss and Jonathan Mount.
Pettitt, a Murfreesboro native, leads the Vols into action. The junior leads the team with a 72.33 scoring average and has four top-10 finishes this season.
Ford follows next for the Big Orange. A fellow junior, he fired a scorecard of 73-79-71--223 to finish tied for 34th at the Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational, March 17-18.
Paisley, a sophomore, has one top-10 finish this spring at the Ping Arizona Intercollegiate where he tied for fifth with a 54-hole of 206.
UT senior Weiss has competed in seven tournaments this season carrying a 74.05 scoring average.
Rounding out the lineup for the Volunteers is Kingston native Mount. Mount is third on the team in scoring average and has fired five rounds of par or better this season.
Competition begins with 18 holes today followed by the same Saturday and Sunday. Live results will be available at www.golfstat.com.
