The No. 15 Tennessee men's golf finished 10th as the third and final round of the Schenkel E-Z-GO Invitational concluded Sunday at Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga.
The Volunteers finished the tournament 27 over par with a team scorecard of 297-302-291--890. Their 3-over-par 291 in the final round was their lowest of the tournament.
Georgia went wire to wire to take home the team championship with a total score of 854. Alabama finished six strokes back in second. Fellow SEC opponents Auburn, South Carolina and Florida rounded out the top five.
Murfreesboro native Philip Pettitt led the Vols, finishing tied for 21st place after an even-par 72 in the final round. He ended the tournament at 4 over with a 54-hole total of 220.
Junior Charlie Ford had the best final round for Tennessee. His 1-under 71 was his best round of the tournament and helped him into a tie for 34th place.
Fellow junior Jonathan Mount fired a scorecard of 72-77-77--226 to finish tied for 47th. Lone senior Tino Weiss shot a 4-over-par 76 in the final round and ended the tournament tied for 58th.
Chris Paisley rounded out the scoring for Tennessee. Paisley fired his best round of the tournament, an even-par 72, to finish with a total score of 229 and tied for 65th.
Georgia's Chris Kirk fired a scorecard of 70-68-72--210 to win the individual crown by two strokes over teammate Brendon Todd. Alabama's Michael Thompson finished third, three strokes back of first. Three players tied for fourth.
Next, the Vols will travel to Augusta, Ga., for the Administaff Augusta State Invitational at Champions Retreat Golf Club March 30-April 1.
