Paisley Leads All at The Ridges

The Tennessee men???s golf team shot a 10-under-par 278 and Chris Paisley matched course and tournament records with an 8-under-par 64 as the Vols climbed into fourth place after Saturday???s second round of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at The Ridges in Jonesborough, Tenn.
The junior from Newcastle, England, used 10 pars and eight birdies, including birdies on five of the last seven holes, to record his career-best round and take a three-stroke lead in the individual standings over North Carolina???s Robert Riesen and Wake Forest???s Brendan Gielow.
???I didn???t putt the lights out. It wasn???t like I made putts from all over the place,??? Paisley said. ???I just hit it great. I only missed two greens and hit it inside 15 feet a lot. I was never stressed to make par. It was one of the few stress-free rounds I???ve ever had.???
Senior Philip Pettitt had the next-best score of the day for Tennessee, a 3-under-par 69 that helped him jump 12 spots into a tie for 11th going into the final round.
Sophomore David Holmes finished at even-par 72 and is tied for 34th at 1 over par.
Senior Ben Spickard, competing as an individual, and freshman Robin Wingardh were next for Tennessee. Spickard struggled with a 5-over-par 77 while Wingardh improved on his first-round score with a 1-over-par 73. They are both tied for 54th.
Charlie Ford fired a 4-over-par 76 and is tied for 69th place with a scorecard of 75-76--151.
In the team competition, Wake Forest shot a 10-under-par 278 to take the lead over second place East Tennessee State by one stroke. Virginia is third at 9 under par. Tennessee is tied with Kent State for fourth at 8 under par.
Paisley leads the individual standings at 10-under-par 134 followed by Riesen and Gielow at 137. Virginia Tech???s Drew Weaver is in fourth at 6 under par, and Kent State???s John Hahn and ETSU???s Rhys Enoch are tied for fifth at 139.
