SOMERS, Wis. - She also helped the 200y medley relay squad to a third-place finish (1:43.99), which is the fastest 200y medley relay time thus far this year. Her performance in the meet in Gainesville, Fla., brings her season total to 13 titles in individual races and nine in relays.
The Tinley Park, Ill., product currently holds 24 NCAA provisional cuts in eight different events to lead the team. At the Minnesota Invite (Nov. 17-19), Magnuson won all four events she competed in (50y, 100y and 200y free, and 100y fly) and as a member of the 200y and 400y free relay squads. She swept the individual events again on Jan. 6 at Northwestern, taking the title in the 100y and 200y fly, 50y free, and as a member of the 200y and 400y free relay squads. Against then-No. 6 Georgia on Jan. 20, the junior earned first-place finishes in the 200y fly and 400y medley relay, and third place in the 200y free.
Not only is Magnuson the school record holder in the 100y and 200y freestyle, she also is a member of every fastest relay squad in UT history. So far this year, she tops her teammates in the 100y free (50.47), 200y free (1:49.26), 100y fly (53.98) and 200y fly (2:00.78). She already has accumulated three NCAA provisional cuts and first-place finishes in the 200y fly in her first season competing in the event. In addition, she holds a place in all the quickest relay squads so far in 2006-07.
Magnuson will attempt to continue producing strong performances at the Southeastern Conference Championships, Feb. 7-10, in Lexington, Ky.
