VOLS TO COMPETE IN INAGURAL UNITED STATES COLLEGIATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 15th-ranked Tennessee men's golf teams travels to Alpharetta, Ga., Saturday for the inaugural US Collegiate Championships hosted by Georgia Tech. The 54-hole tournament runs Monday and Tuesday April 10-11 and takes places at The Golf Club of Georgia.
The Golf Club of Georgia is a 36-hole Arthur Hills facility located north of Atlanta and is the host site for the 2007NCAA East Regional Championships. The tournament will be the first collegiate championships ever held at this course.
An impressive field awaits the Volunteers as nine teams rank among the nation's top 20. The field features host Georgia Tech, Georgia, Alabama, Brigham Young, Clemson, ETSU, Florida, Florida State, Georgia State, Texas, Texas Christian and Wake Forest.
At the No.1 position for Tennessee is sophomore Jonathan Mount. Mount has three top 10 finishes this season and leads the team in stroke average with a 72.40.
Following at the No. 2 position is fellow sophomore Philip Pettitt. Pettitt had the highest finish for the Volunteers at the Administaff Augusta State Invitational, shooting a 70-78-74--222 to finish in a tie for 37th.
Manning the No. 3 position is Roswell, Ga., native Ben Spickard. Spickard has fired eight rounds of par or better this season while competing in every tournament for the Vols.
Following in the No. 4 position is Charlie Ford. Ford has been the most consistent Vol this spring with two top 20 finishes.
Rounding out the lineup at No. 5 is freshman Chris Paisley. Paisley is coming off his first tournament of the year at the Augusta State event.
Competition begins Monday morning at 8 a.m. Eastern time. Teams play 36 holes before the tournament concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday. Live results are available at www.golfstat.com.
