KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Three Lady Volunteer divers are headed to Lexington, Ky., to compete in the NCAA Zone "B" diving championships from March 10-12. At stake are berths to the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships from March 16-18 in Athens, Ga.
"This is going to be an extremely tough competition," diving coach Dave Parrington said. "There are nine spots available to go to the NCAA Championships, and there is an enormous depth at our zone. look forward to our ladies stepping up and meeting the challenge."
Junior Brittany Fulmer (Maryville, Tenn.) and sophomores Lauren LeRoy (Oshkosh, Wis.) and Vicky Linnell (Prospect, South Australia) will compete on all three boards. To advance to the NCAA Championships, they will have to finish among the top three at the one-meter, top four at the three-meter and top two on the platform.
All three are making their first-ever appearance at the Zone Meet. Fulmer picked up her zone qualifying mark at the Bulldog Invite, a last-chance meet, while LeRoy and Linnell have eclipsed the standard several times on the campaign.
